Brief Introduction: |
Aloe-emodin (AE), a hydroxyanthraquinone present in Aloe vera leaves, has a specific in vitro and in vivo antineuroectodermal tumor activity. The growth of human neuroectodermal tumors is inhibited in mice with severe combined immunodeficiency without any appreciable toxic effects on the animals. The compound does not inhibit the proliferation of normal fibroblasts nor that of hemopoietic progenitor cells. The cytotoxicity mechanism consists of the induction of apoptosis, whereas the selectivity against neuroectodermal tumor cells is founded on a specific energy-dependent pathway of drug incorporation. |

1.Aloe-emodin has the function of Anti-tumor activity:Aloe-emodin on the inhibition of P388 leukemia cells and prolong survival.
One of the mechanisms is the inhibition of cancer cell DNA, RNA and protein biosynthesis.
2.Aloe-emodin has the function of Antibacterial activity
3.Aloe-emodin has the function of Immunosu ppression: Aloe-emodin can inhibit the organisms immune response, inhibition of carbon clearance ability, to reduce the weight of immune organs, reduced white blood cell count, decreased macrophage function. 100μg/ml concentration in vitro [3H]TDR and [3H] Urd into the cell parameters significantly inhibited.
